Kantha quilts are Bengali hand-crafted blankets made from old sarees where up to seven are held together by a series of single runner stitches. Namai sources the vintage quilts used to make its jackets from Jaipur.
Each Namai garment is composed of textiles on their third lifecycle, having passed through the hands of generations of women. Each pre-loved quilt has a unique patina only achieved through prolonged use and love.
Signs of wear are celebrated by patch working areas together. The jacket becomes a one-of-a-kind quilted collage comprised of remnant fabrics. The jackets are designed in New York and tailored at a family-run tailoring workshop in India, produced one at a time.
